アートや表現についての探究を続けてきた成清は、「社会におけるアートの場づくり」こそが新たなアート、表現であるとの考えにたどり着き、「社会とアートをつなぐ」を⽬的に多様な市⺠に向けたアートプロジェクトに取り組むようになりました。

 

そして、 現在では「セル画」 の持つ物質性、歴史性に着⽬したアートプロジェクト「PORTRAIT STUDIES」を、多様な地域、市⺠との協働によって展開しています。

 

同時に、アーティスト⾃⾝の社会的意義を探求するため、 地域の⽂化芸術振興にも尽⼒しています。

 

成清による⼀連の活動は、 ⼿法に限定されない、 現代社会におけるアートとは何か、 表現とは何かという⾃⾝の問いにもとづく探究、発展のかたちだといえるでしょう。

Narikiyo’s sustained inquiry into art and modes of expression has led him to articulate the view that the creation of opportunities for people to engage with art within society should itself be understood as a contemporary form of artistic practice and expression. On the basis of this premise, and with the explicit aim of “linking society and art,” he has developed a series of projects designed to address and involve diverse publics.

Currently, he is advancing PORTRAIT STUDIES, an art project that critically examines the materiality and historicity of animation cels, carried out through collaborative processes with a range of communities and regions.

Concurrently, he devotes efforts to the promotion of local cultural and artistic development, positioning this work as part of a broader inquiry into the social significance of the artist’s role.

Considered as a whole, Narikiyo’s practice constitutes a mode of inquiry and development that resists confinement to predetermined methods, and is instead grounded in a critical examination of what art and expression may signify within the conditions of contemporary society.
